Journey With Us This Holy Week
These services commemorate and embody the truest victory of good over evil. They are a time for personal reflection, for repentance, and for rejoicing. We invite you to join us for any or all of our Holy Week services.
Palm Sunday
March 29
- 8:30 AM & 11:00 AM — Worship Services
- 9:45 AM — Bible Study, Sunday School & Refreshments
Holy Week begins with a celebration of Jesus’ triumphant return to Jerusalem. Each identical service focuses upon Bible readings, hymns, and a sermon that point us toward the reason our King has come, His Cross and Empty Tomb.
You are welcome to join our Bible study/Sunday School and refreshments between services.
Maundy Thursday
April 2 • 7PM
The Maundy Thursday Service is the first service of the Triduum, a single service spaced out over Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Vigil. Maundy Thursday is a reflective service filled with love and forgiveness as we celebrate the sacrament of Holy Communion according to the Words and promises of our Savior. The service concludes with the altar being stripped of all decorations and we leave the service in silence.
Good Friday
April 3 • 8PM
The Good Friday service is a somber reminder of the sacrifice Jesus made for us. The hymns, Bible readings and sermon will focus on the suffering of Jesus as the embodiment of the immeasurable love he has for us. The service transitions from light to dark as candles are extinguished, and finally a loud strepitus (crash) is heard in full darkness, as the congregation leaves in silence. It is a time to examine our lives and be grateful for God’s grace that he gives to all who believe in him.
Easter Sunday
April 5
- 7:45 AM — Service of Light
- 8:00 AM — Early Service
- 11:00 AM — Late Service
The Service of Light: Completes the Easter Vigil and Triduum services. We gather around an outdoor fire pit. The Paschal Candle is lit from the fire and we proceed into the darkened church, announcing the good news that Jesus is Risen! He is Risen, indeed! Alleluia! The risen Christ brings the restoration of light to the Church. The church then transitions to the joy of Christ’s resurrection.
Early and Late Services: These identical services celebrate that resurrection with hymns, and accounts from the Bible of Jesus rising from death to bring us unending life.
